The great Titanic has gone down. She foundered at 2:20 this morning. The scene of the sinking disaster was apparently held back to prepare the world for the worst. Officials admit many lives were lost but how many is not stated. The following dispatches to The Journal-Courier from the Associated Press explain the estimation up to 9 o'clock said (Monday) night.

New York. April 15 -- The WHite Star liner Titanic sank at 2:20 o'clock this morning after all her passengers and crew had been taken off and transferred in the steamer Virginian. This statement was given and at the White Star offices here at 7:20 o'clock tonight.
